My apologies to poor ROBIN KING. She efficiently finished her nine games. She accurately tallyed her scoresheet. Then she waited patiently. And waited. And waited. I awarded 1st and 2nd place before she asked how SHE did. Well, her scoresheet was sitting there completely ignored. And as it turned out...SHE had finished in FIRST PLACE! How was that possible, since she only won 5 games, and Steve and Julia each won 6? She did it by skunking THREE of her opponents, one of which was against me! Way to go Robin! So STEVE WENNSTROM's winnings (for an erroneous 1st place) were recalled and awarded to the rightful owner, which was Robin. Steve understandingly took the SECOND PLACE winnings. And THIRD PLACE went to JULIA BICK. RAY MIELBRECHT won the $15 DIRECTOR's AWARD....by holding a 7-7-A-A and an Ace was cut....AND scored the FIRST 24-HAND, worth $5. (Incidently, Ray had discarded an Ace!) Somehow I managed to score a Raggedy Ann (6-7-8-A-A) and claimed the $43 RAGGEDY JULIA pot. Still not satisfied, I also took THE CHICKEN away from Ray with the only other 24-hand of the day. Since JIM RANSTROM was away today and couldn't be there to brag about his success in Puyallup last weekend, I announced that Jim had scored a 28-HAND in last weekend's Puyallup tournament. He also finished in FIRST PLACE in the morning tournament. CONGRATULATIONS JIM!
