14 players turned out on this chilly day for another fun afternoon of cribbage. We started the day by saying goodbye to ROBIN KING.....again.....as we had an odd number of players. Thanks Robin! We then acknowledged our two "PERFECT ATTENDANCE" winners, HARLEY MIEDEMA and KURT LYSEN. Any player who participates in all 12 tournaments in a quarter get a free pass for one entry fee. Today concluded our second quarter, so next week we begin our third and final quarter of the cribbage season. Two first-time guests included DANA LAZARE (doesn't that last name sound familiar?) and GEORGE EUSTICE.(known around the island as Santa Claus.) We hope you two will come back again soon! And we had visitor DENNIS MISENAR return. This is his second venture over from the Kitsap Peninsula, and today he earned enough dough to pay for his ferry fare home AND had a GRAND SLAM to boot! Way to go Dennis! For the record: GEORGE EUSTICE scored the FIRST 24-HAND DENNIS MISENAR was the first to score a 23-hand (4-5-5-5-6) and got today's DIRECTOR'S AWARD. CINDY GRENVILLE ended the day holding THE CHICKEN STEVE WENNSTROM emptied out the SKUNK POT today. And nobody held that elusive 6-7-8-A-A, so another $10 got added to the RAGGEDY JULIA as it continues to grow. On March 12th we have a conflict with another event at the Eagles. George is looking into the possibility of us playing that day at the Senior Center, but if anyone has any other possibilities, please let me know.

I tried my best to keep ROBIN KING at the cribbage table today, but I had miscounted the number of players we had present, and when she discovered that....she shot out of there! I hope you enjoyed the sunny day since you weren’t with us today Robin! Today we welcomed two players from off-island, both of which I have met at other mainland tournaments. Dennis Misenar and his wife Lori Misenar. (And we would have been disappointed if they had gone home empty-handed.) For the record: RAY MIELBRECHT scored the FIRST 24-HAND of the day I scored the first CRIB FLUSH and emptied out the DIRECTOR'S AWARD, so that pot will be worth $5 next week. KATHARINE GOLDING scored her "first ever" 24-hand and ended the day holding THE CHICKEN. And take a look at Katharine's spread points for today. Talk about an even handed player! And RUTH ADAMS cleaned out the SKUNK POT. For the record: TUCKER LAZARE scored the FIRST 24-HAND and the ONLY 24-hand and ended the day holding THE CHICKEN Nobody held a CRIB FLUSH, so the DIRECTOR'S AWARD is worth $10 next week. And KURT LYSEN emptied out the SKUNK POT. (I still owe you a quarter Kurt) We enjoyed the return of visitor LEW HARDY today. For the record: TUCKER LAZARE scored the first of several 5-CARD RUN hands and claimed the DIRECTOR'S AWARD. STEVE WENNSTROM held a 6-7-8-A-A and cleaned out the RAGGEDY JULIA pot ROBIN KING scored the FIRST 24-HAND RAY MIELBRECHT ended the day with THE CHICKEN in his possession and RUTH ADAMS emptied out the SKUNK POT |
