CONGRATULATIONS to JULIA BICK!
She won her first (I'm sure of many) Grass Roots points today with an impressive 8 wins today! RUTH ADAMS came in Second Place... AND ended the day with THE CHICKEN! JIM RANSTROM came in Third Place...and was the first one to grab THE CHICKEN today! (Ruth and Jim...see me next week to claim your prizes!) What I found interesting about today's tournament was there was not one single SKUNK! None! Zilch! The other thing I found interesting was how close many people finished. Four people ended the day with 5 wins. Three people ended the day with 4 wins. So the deciding factor between 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place was net spread points. Nobody claimed the DIRECTOR'S AWARD today. Had someone scored 13 points for holding 6-7-8-A-A they would have received the $15 in that envelope. So we'll roll the DIRECTOR'S AWARD over to next week and I'll throw in an additional $5 for a total prize of $20! In recognition of Steve Wennstrom's crib flush today... to claim the DIRECTOR'S AWARD next week, all you'll need to do is score the first CRIB FLUSH! How hard can that be? See y'all next week! Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 p.s. - If you want to be taken off of this distribution list, just let me know.

Today's FIRST 24-HAND prize went to Ruth Adams!
We ended the day with the CHICKEN in my hot little hands and the LAST 24-HAND prize! Nobody claimed today's DIRECTOR'S AWARD, a Raggedy Ann (6-7-8-A-A), so that prize pot will roll over to next week and I will add an additional $5 to celebrate my success today! So next week's DIRECTOR'S AWARD will be worth $15 next week! JULIA BICK got picked on by Steven Wennstrom and I, putting the only two skunks today, so she easily won the WORST SCORECARD prize! See me next week Julia for your prize! (Julia, if it's any consolation, you and Karen Keil both won the same number of games and earned the same number of game points.) Out of the goodness of her heart, EDITH PAYNE responded quickly when I called her at the last minute to say we had an odd number of players (not to be confused with having "odd players") and she rushed right over to join us. She even brought some delightful brownies! Edith was rewarded when she finished in SECOND PLACE! By the way, Edith is the newest member to "officially" join the club! WELCOME to the 29 Club Edith! We all wish Ray Mielbrecht a speedy recovery from his recent knee surgery! Mike p.s. If you decide you no longer want to be on this distribution list, just let me know. Yes, it's true! Cindy Grenville finally got that monkey off her back
and managed to actually win 12 Grass Roots points! But wait! There's MORE! Did I mention that she finished in 2nd Place? It was a good day for Cindy. CONGRATULATIONS CINDY! Where are my manners? I've jumped ahead before properly welcoming our two guests today...EDITH PAYNE and PAULA TROTTER! (They're not really guests, as both of them have played with us in the past. But it was nice to see them again.) Anyhow, WELCOME to both of you! I hope you'll join us again soon! Oh...did I forget to mention that EDITH took FIRST PLACE and PAULA took THIRD PLACE? Well, they did indeed! (Why is it that our visitors generally go home with all our money?) In case you hadn't noticed, I've had a fairly successful couple of weeks, so today I added a new DIRECTOR's PRIZE. Today's DIRECTOR's PRIZE was $5 for the first RAGGEDY ANN (6-7-8-A-A). Nobody claimed it, so next week I will DOUBLE it to $10. GOOD NEWS and BAD NEWS! First, the BAD news.......I came in LAST PLACE today! Can you imagine that? The only reason JULIA BICK and ROY BUMGARNER didn't get to claim the WORST SCORECARD prize was because they each skunked an opponent, and I didn't. (The three of us won only 3 games each today.) Now, the GOOD news....I scored the FIRST 24-HAND, grabbed the CHICKEN and went home with $5 in my pocket. Speaking of CHICKEN, our feathery friend was flying around the table today like a chicken with his head chopped off. I think I counted SIX 24-hands today. That might be a club record!? The darn thing finally roosted in JIM RANSTROM's lap and he claimed the LAST 24-HAND and the $5 prize. Absent minded me forgot to make arrangements for someone to pick ARLYN TEED up, since her regular chauffeur, Steve Wennstrom, was out of town. JULIA BICK was kind enough to run and pick Arlyn up at the last! THANK YOU JULIA! (It just wouldn't be the same playing cribbage without Arlyn at the table!) Thanks also to those who brought extra snacks today! And thanks to those who helped put things away at the end of the day! If I've missed any important details of today's events, please let me know. I hope to see y'all next week! Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 p.s. holler if you decide you want to be taken off this distribution list! Well, as hard as Karen Keil tried, she was unsuccessful at obtaining
that highly coveted "string of pearls" today. In her next to last game of the day, Karen managed to beat Roy Bumgarner (by a mere 14 points) to end her string of losses. Karen and Roy were the only two who didn't get SKUNKED today! Interesting! So when you get back from Portland Karen, be sure to claim your WORST SCORECARD prize! There were two VERY close games today, both decided by just ONE point! Cindy Grenville left Steve Wennstrom in the stink hole, and Julia Bick left Ruth Adams in the stink hole! The stink hole wasn't enough to keep Steve and Ruth out of the the money though. Ruth Adams finished in THIRD PLACE and Steve Wennstrom finished in SECOND PLACE! CONGRATULATIONS to both of you! You may recall that Steve had been lagging behind in prior weeks, but with today's results, Steve earned his first (of many) GRASS ROOTS points! Way to go Steve! My THANKS to CINDY GRENVILLE for bringing the veggie snacks! And thanks to Jim and Cindy for helping to put the tables and chairs away! See y'all next week! |
