So here's what happened this week: We welcomed Jennifer Hawke today. Jennifer had noticed our street signs and has been meaning to stop in for a long time. Today she did, and we're glad she did! Thanks to everyone for making her feel welcome! JIM RANSTROM returns to the TOP! CONGRATULATIONS Jim! CINDY GRENVILLE also made a comeback today and finished in SECOND PLACE! Our very own CHICKEN MAN, Harley Miedema, crowed early after scoring the FIRST 24-HAND and grabbed THE CHICKEN (and $5) But Harley's hopes of hanging onto THE CHICKEN to the end were dashed by several other 24-hands, and I ended the day holding THE CHICKEN! Next week's CHICKEN will be worth $5. However, the DIRECTOR'S AWARD now climbs to a staggering $25! Who will score that elusive CRIB FLUSH next....and when? Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 p.s. Just holler if you want to be taken off this distribution list.

MOST LOSSES (over the 12-week period) Arlyn - 58 Our group warmly welcomed a new player, Korina Knudson. She has been playing cribbage since she was seven. Korina would make a nice addition to our group. Thanks to everyone for making her feel so welcome! Today we started play in the 3rd and final quarter of this season. ROBIN KING is our early leader with a 1st Place finish today. HARLEY MIEDEMA finished right behind her in SECOND. CONGRATULATIONS to both of them for earning 14 GRASS ROOTS POINTS! Finishing today in 3rd Place, but without Grass Roots points, was KAREN KEIL. Nobody seemed interested in the $15 prize money sitting in the DIRECTOR'S AWARD pot, so next week we will again be seeking that elusive CRIB FLUSH, now worth $20! And nobody bothered to score one single 24-hand today, so next week's CHICKEN POT will climb to $10! I also want to note THE CHICKEN's new companion, RAGGEDY ANN. JULIA BICK made the little darling just for our club. THANKS Julia! Thanks also to Jim and Cindy for bringing today's treats. Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 p.s. Just let me know if you want to be taken off this distribution list. Karen Keil never cooled down from Saturday and she blew her competition away again today! CONGRATULATIONS Karen for taking FIRST PLACE! ROBIN KING also had two sizzling days and she came in SECOND PLACE today! That's two days in a row that Robin has earned Grass Roots Points! CONGRATULATIONS Robin! ARLYN TEED started out hot.....grabbed THE CHICKEN early..... and ended the day still holding THE CHICKEN....AND finished in THIRD PLACE! CONGRATULATIONS Arlyn! Honorable mention to Jim Ranstrom and Mike Sudduth who also earned Grass Points today! Nobody could muster up a crib flush Sunday, so next week's DIRECTOR'S AWARD gets bumped up to $15! We will keep looking for that elusive CRIB FLUSH! Thanks go out to Robin King and Cindy Grenville for providing the snacks on Sunday! Also, my thanks for Edith Payne for stopping by just to make sure we had an even number of players on Sunday. I would have preferred that she had stayed and played, but her heart was certainly in the right place! THANKS EDITH! This tournament completes our 2nd Quarter of play. Watch for 2nd Quarter results soon. Be sure to join us next Saturday when we will have a brief celebration to honor the many accomplishments (and a few disasters) during the Second Quarter of play! Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 p.s. just let me know if you decide you would like to be taken off this distribution list. The good news is....I didn't get skunked today! The bad news is.....well, actually, there is no bad news! It seemed like a good time was had by all! It was fun to see PAULA TROTTER back for a return visit! Don't be such a stranger Paula! JULIA BICK was the first player to grab THE CHICKEN and $5. Nobody claimed today's DIRECTOR'S AWARD (a crib flush) so we will DOUBLE that prize tomorrow to $10! HARLEY MIEDEMA was the last to get his hands on THE CHICKEN, which was worth $10 today (since nobody claimed it last week.) CONGRATULATIONS to Steve, Jim, Karen, Cindy, and Robin for earning Grass Roots points today! Many thanks to Julia Bick for the homemade peanut butter cookies and to Karen Keil and Robin King for their special treats! Thanks to Jim Ranstrom and Cindy Grenville too. We never even got to their goodies. But I'm counting on them being served up at tomorrow's tournament. 1:00 tomorrow at The Eagles! Final tournament of the SECOND QUARTER!! See you then! Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 p.s. let me know if you ever want OFF this distribution list. Another fun-packed day at the cribbage table. Ten players sat down to enjoy an afternoon playing one of the best card games around. ROBIN KING, our newest club member, didn't waste much time in earning her 1st Grass Roots Points. And speaking of first, Robin came in FIRST PLACE today! CONGRATULATIONS Robin! STEVE WENNSTROM, again, finished in the money in SECOND PLACE! Steve has been steadily climbing the charts and he now sits in second place in 2nd Quarter Standings. Steve skunked THREE opponents yesterday...beating one opponent by 60 POINTS! Ouch! He also claimed the DIRECTOR'S AWARD (4-OF-A-KIND). Speaking of 2nd Quarter Standings, JULIA BICK is back on top! KAREN KEIL struggled to get just two wins today, so she has dropped down to 4th place in 2nd Quarter Standings. RUTH ADAMS is another player shooting up on the charts in recent weeks. She was again in the money and came in THIRD PLACE this week. Ruth is a fierce competitor and really enjoys the game of cribbage. ROY BUMGARNER came very close to taking third place yesterday. He and Ruth both won six games and both earned 13 game points, but Roy was short a few spread points and finished the day in FOURTH PLACE. Now, the question of the day is: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHICKEN? We didn't see one single 24-hand, so THE CHICKEN will be worth $10 next Saturday. I hope to see you then! Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 p.s. Just let me know if you decide you want to be taken off this distribution list. p.p.s - The Grass Roots website is down for maintenance, so I'm unable to enter our stats at this point. Watch for them later this week. Sorry! |
