Another fine afternoon of cribbage today. Fourteen (14).....yes, 14 players turned out today. Fifteen, if I include Amy who stopped by, signed in, but couldn't stay to play. I hope Amy will stop by again when she can stay and play some cribbage with us! The LONG DISTANCE AWARD goes to Martha O'Donnell, who travelled all the way from Port Townsend just to join us today! I'm glad you made the trek, and I hope you had a good time today Martha! Thanks for joining us ! Our YOUNG PLAYER AWARD goes to two young ladies, Maya and Kaili. You are two very smart girls ! I hope you had fun with us today ! Our NEW KID ON THE BLOCK AWARD goes to Daniel Macca. I'm glad you joined us today Daniel ! Looks like you will be giving us a run for our money ! Our GRAND SLAM award goes to Nicole Maxwell. Nicole was UNDEFEATED today ! Nicole won all five of her games, and ended the day with 10 game points and a 102 point spread. Way to go Nicole ! Pat and Harley were our second place finishers today, both earning 6 game points. I forgot to report on the results from our prior regular gathering, back in late November. Saul and Jack tied for top game points (7 each), but Saul edged out Jack by a mere 3 extra spread points. Jack had quite a day, which included a win (actually, a skunk) by 55 points ! Saul skunked one of his opponents by 40 points ! Jay and Frank really duked it out, skunking each other back to back ! Two of the closed games were played byPat and Chris (not with each other). Pat won one of her games by ONE (1) point and Chris played a game that was decided by a mere two points. That is exciting cribbage !! Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of playing against Cindy up at the Eagles Hall. She was the only one to venture out in the snow. Personally, I'm glad to see that nasty weather over with ! The Eagles were very hospitable to us. Maybe we can try that venue again in the future? Our next regular gathering will be on Saturday, December 16th at 2 pm at the Vashon Library. If you find that the stress of the holiday season is getting to you, consider spending a couple of hours unwinding.....playing cribbage !! CONGRATULATIONS to Jim Ranstrom for taking 1st place in today's tournament and CONGRATULATIONS to Steve Wennstrom for coming in 2nd place! Julia Bick had a crib-flush today which earned her $5 and Steve Wennstrom went home with an extra $5 in his pocket for having the last 24-hand of the day! (A couple of players let that prize slip through their hands today!) It was nice to have Weslie Rodgers and Saul Fortunoff join us today so that we had enough players to make it an "official" tournament. And Arlyn Teed is always a joy to play cribbage with! She adds a real touch of grace and style to our group. Don't you agree? If you missed today's fun... JOIN THE FUN next Saturday, January 5th, 1 pm @ Vashon Eagles HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you!!
