Reporting from SKUNKVILLE, population....12 I don't recall a time in recent memory where we had as many skunks as we did today. NINE skunks were handed out! And the only person to stay out of the fray was JIM RANSTROM. He stayed neutral to the skunking madness. He didn't skunk anyone and nobody skunked him! The rest of us skunked our opponent or got skunked at least once. HARLEY MIEDEMA dealt the worst skunk of the day to CINDY GRENNVILLE, with a 59-Point win. That was just 3 points shy of our 62-point club record, held by Steve Wennstrom set on Jan 10th. CONGRATULATIONS to RUTH ADAMS! Ruth comes each week, determined to learn something new about this great game, and this week she was rewarded with FIRST PLACE! CONGRATULATIONS to HARLEY MIEDEMA who finished in SECOND PLACE! And CONGRATULATIONS to STEVE WENNSTROM! Steve came in THIRD PLACE! Steve actually collected the 2nd PLACE prize (by mistake...my mistake) after Harley failed to calculate his game point totals correctly. I did catch the error, and I'm sure Steve will share his ill-gotten gains with Harley the next time he sees him. RAY MIELBRECHT took today's DIRECTOR'S AWARD for scoring the first CRIB FLUSH. Ray gets to select next week's specialty hand. ROY BUMGARNER not only scored the FIRST 24-HAND, but he scored the ONLY 24-HAND today, so he got both prizes that THE CHICKEN offers. (see me next week for your other $5 Roy) Too much FUN! Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 p.s. as always, just let me know if you want to be taken off this distribution list.

KAREN KEIL takes FIRST PLACE! (Is that big enough and bold enough for you Karen?) CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations to STEVE WENNSTROM. Steve finished in SECOND PLACE. And congratulations to JIM RANSTROM. Jim finished in THIRD PLACE...AND earned his first Grass Roots Points of the 2nd Quarter of play. Julia Bick scored the FIRST 24-HAND (and $5) Steve Wennstrom scored the first (and only) RAGGEDY ANDY (6-7-8-2-2) and went home with the DIRECTOR'S AWARD of $5. (Steve gets to choose next week's specialty hand.) ROY BUMGARNER scored a 24-hand late in the day, cleverly kept THE CHICKEN hidden in his hat, and cashed it in at the end of the day for $5. THANKS, as always, to Edith Payne for dropping everything and rushing up to round out the number of players to an even dozen. And thanks to Jim Ranstrom for bringing extra snacks today. Nice crowd today! See you next week! Mike [email protected] (206) 930-1379 EIGHT! Count them! 8 SKUNKS occurred today! (More on that later.) CINDY GRENVILLE was the first one to score a 24-hand. She was quick to grab THE CHICKEN and the $5 that goes with that honor! Karen Keil briefly held THE CHICKEN mid way thru the tournament, but your's truly snatched it from her right away and held it for the remainder of the day. Today's DIRECTOR'S AWARD, chosen by Julia Bick, went to ARLYN TEED. Arlyn's FOUR-OF-A-KIND earned her a quick $20! That prize will return to $5 next week. We'll let Arlyn pick the hand for next week's prize! CONGRATULATIONS to KAREN KEIL! Karen clawed her way to the top of today's heap with an impressive scorecard: 16 Game Points, 7 Wins, and 134 Net Spread Points. Karen did get skunked once herself, but she also skunked two opponents. The most impressive skunk was dealt by Steve Wennstrom to RAY MIELBRECHT! Ray got skunked by SIXTY-TWO (62) points! That's a new CLUB RECORD, and certainly qualifies for a $5 prize! (See me next week for your prize money Ray) Now ROBIN KING did herself proud today as well. (I should note that she also skunked Ray in their final game today.) But prior to that, Robin had a bad BAD string of luck and got skunked...not once....not twice....but THREE times IN A ROW! And she still said THANK YOU...with a smile on her face...when she left. She is a great sport! So ROBIN gets the SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD this week (worth $5) (See me next week for your winnings Robin!) STEVE WENNSTROM again tied for 2nd place in Game Points, but he didn't win as many games as I did, so he finished in THIRD PLACE today. The good news is...we had NINE players today, so he does qualify for a cash prize. (See me next week to collect that Steve) A lively group today!! Thanks for the fun!
