We had another successful cribbage tournament this afternoon at the Vashon Eagles.
Eight players completed nine action-packed games!
We even had a visitor come all the way from North Seattle to play with us today.
That visitor, Paul Peterson, took first place, emptied our pockets, and went back to the mainland.
Congratulations to Paul!
Second place was taken by that cribbage master....Arlyn Teed!
Arlyn scored back-to-back skunks against a couple of her opponents.
(For those of you keeping track of our games, you know that this
is NOT Arlyn's first time "in the money".)
Cindy Grenville took third place today, despite racking up a skunk on her scoresheet.
Our newest club member, Ray Mielbrecht, found himself in fourth place today,
Ray won over half of his games today.
And Ray played in and won the closest game of the day after leaving Steve Wennstrom in the stink hole! It doesn't get any more exciting than that!
Congratulations and WELCOME to our club Ray!!
Now don't go feeling too sad for Steve. Just prior to getting left in the stink hole,
Steve skunked his prior opponent by 57 points!
The $5 CHICKEN POT went to Jim Ranstrom, after the chicken slipped through the hands of several other players who also scored 24 hands. Congratulations.....again.....Jim!
Today's GOOD SPORT AWARD goes to Huck Davidson. Despite facing unkind cards all afternoon, Huck still went home with a smile on his face!
Better luck next time Huck!
If it's Saturday at 1 pm, it's CRIBBAGE at the Vashon Eagles!
JOIN THE FUN!
CONGRATULATIONS to Cindy and Steve!!
Cindy came in 1st Place and Steve took 2nd Place in yesterday's cribbage tournament!!
Jim also reported that Huck went home with the $5 Chicken Pot, after holding the final 24-hand of the day.
(I heard that the chicken slipped through Cindy's hands a couple of times!)
My apologies for leaving you with an odd number of players yesterday.
I have finally researched the proper rotation when we have an odd number of players.
The "vacant" seat rotates around with everyone else, and that
determines who sits out. So that's what we will do the next time we have an odd number.
I want to say THANKS to those present yesterday who made HUCK and RAY feel welcome!
And finally, THANKS to everyone for helping pick up after yesterday's fun
and especially to Jim for bringing my bags home with him!
I hope all of you can JOIN THE FUN next Saturday!!
Cindy Grenville was unstoppable last week. She took first place with 16 game points (winning 8 out of 9 games).
Jim Ranstrom was the only person able to win a game against Cindy this week.
Jim took second place, winning 6 out of his 9 games.
Harley Miedema was the only person to skunk one of his opponents.
Harley came in third place.
Arlyn Teed and Julia Bick came in right on Harley's heels.
Arlyn, Julia, and Harley each won 4 of their 9 games, but Harley's skunk gave him that extra game point.
Steve Wennstrom .....well.....let's all hope that Steve has better luck this week!
Steve and I hold the same philosophy....win or lose....playing cribbage is still a great way to spend the afternoon!
I hope to see you on Saturday!
