After properly recognizing JULIA BICK's amazing 2nd quarter performance, we quickly moved into our 3rd and final "official" quarter of the cribbage season. I had a double pleasure today. In addition to finishing in first place, I also got to award SIX (6) players a FREE PASS into today's tournament because of their PERFECT ATTENDANCE during the 2nd Quarter. KURT LYSEN scored the FIRST 24-HAND of the day, grabbing THE CHICKEN (and $5). THE CHICKEN passed through several hands, and DEREK SMITH was feeling fairly confident it had come home to roost after he scored back-to-back 24-hands. But it wasn't to be, and RAY MIELBRECHT ended the day holding THE CHICKEN. Nobody scored a 23-hand, so next week's DIRECTOR'S AWARD will be worth $10. Nobody held the 6-7-8-A-A hand, so the RAGGEDY JULIA will start out next week with $13. I still have room in my car for another passenger to attend the FREE cribbage class in Chehalis on Monday. Give me a call if you're interested in taking these valuable lessons. Did I mention the ride is FREE too?

1st 24-HAND went to RAY MIELBRECHT. DIRECTOR'S AWARD (4-of-a-Kind) went to JULIA BICK. Julia was also holding THE CHICKEN at the end of the day! Next week's specialty hand will be a 23-hand. There are only two ways to score such a hand. Do you know what they are? Visitor JIM ROSEVEARE held a 6-7-8-A-A and claimed the RAGGEDY JULIA FOUR club members, and our visitor from Colorado, each scored 12 or more game points, making all of them (except our visitor) eligible for GRASS ROOTS POINTS! My apologies to the group for the confusion in rotation today. I'll make sure it's mapped out the next time we have an uneven number of players. Other items of interest: Jim Ranstrom missed earning a Grand Slam in his ninth game when he lost to Kurt Lysen by 12 points. Dave McCoy missed earning a String-of-Pearls by just one game when he beat Cindy Grenville by 12 points. And Julia Bick got DOUBLE-SKUNKED by 65 points in her game again Harley Miedema. Be sure to check out the videos from last weekend which are posted on the new website (www.vashoncribbage.com). And finally, I still have room for two more passengers if you're interested in riding along with Ray and I to attend cribbage classes down in Chehalis starting March 1st. The ride is FREE, and so are the classes! Just let me know. Next week we start our THIRD and final quarter of the cribbage season! See you then! RUTH ADAMS leaves opponents in the dust! Finishes in FIRST PLACE! We had a record number of 14 players today!. FIRST and LAST 24-HAND went to DAVID McCOY DIRECTOR'S AWARD, a full house, went to DEREK SMITH Nobody scored a 6-7-8-A-A, so the Raggedy Julia rolls over to next week! THE CHICKEN (and $5) was grabbed by STEVE WENNSTROM with the FIRST 24-HAND. You'll notice below that Steve also finished the day in FIRST PLACE. ROY BUMGARNER held the 1st 4-OF-A-KIND which got him the DIRECTOR'S AWARD. Roy also took THE CHICKEN away from Steve right near the end of the day. But WAIT! There's MORE! Roy ended the day in SECOND PLACE. That's a good day in anybody's book! Nobody scored a 6-7-8-A-A, so the RAGGEDY JULIA pot rolls over to next week with $21. Although visitor JIM ROSEVEARE scored 12 Game Points, unfortunately he doesn't get to claim any GRASS ROOTS POINTS, since those are only awarded to members of the immediate club. But thanks for visiting us Jim. Hurry back! JIM RANSTROM finished in THIRD PLACE today (and really gets to keep those winnings) despite a 54 point loss to DAVE McCOY. Jim also earned Grass Roots Points today! |
