It appears that THE CHICKEN won the POPULAR vote in yesterday's CRIBBAGE CAUCUS. Steve Wennstrom scored the 1st 24-hand of the day and grabbed the chicken. It was UNANIMOUS that we ALL wanted to hold that chicken at the end of the day, but Steve wouldn't let loose of it. He even stole it from himself when he scored a SECOND 24-hand! The Cribbage Caucus process was quite interesting to observe. The room wasn't overly crowded with eight registered participants. We sat down one-on-one to discuss the strength's of our favorite candidate, making convincing cases using pairs, and runs and 15s. Each candidate attempted to come up with at least 121 excellent points to convince his opponent that HE or SHE was the best person to advance to the next level. By the end of the day, it came down to two final candidates vieing for the nomination. Jim Ranstrom and Mike Sudduth were tied at seven games a piece, but it was Arlyn Teed's early argument in support of Jim, when she gave him THREE game points, that tipped the final selection over to JIM RANSTROM. CONGRATULATIONS JIM! WELCOME to Harley Miedema. Harley has been playing with us for quite a while, but yesteday he made it "official" and joined as an ACC and GRASSROOTS member. Harley gave folks a run for their money yesteday, finishing in 4th place! Harley missed earning GrassRoots points yesterday by just ONE point when Ray Mielbrecht left Harley in the stink hole late in the afternoon. And although Julia Bick had a tough day yesterday, with only one win, she managed to hang onto her top standing in total GrassRoots points to-date. (Honorable mention goes to Cindy Grenville for filling in the dummy seat yesterday!) For those of you unable to attend yesterday's Cribbage Caucus, you won't have to wait another year to experience that same excitement. If it's Saturday at 1 pm, it's CRIBBAGE at the Eagles! JOIN THE FUN! Mike (206) 930-1379 [email protected]
