Greetings and Happy Holidays to all of you! Yesterday we completed our second 'official' Grass Roots tournament! ARLYN TEED ended the day with the winning score card and $28 in her pocket. CONGRATULATIONS Arlyn! In second place was that sweet, quiet, unassuming JULIA BICK. Julia has now taken second place TWO WEEKS IN A ROW! (Keep an eye on her!) CINDY GRENVILLE took first place last week. CONGRATULATIONS to all three of you!! I'm often asked about the advantage (if one exists) to the person who cuts the low card and gets the first crib of the game. Attached are two papers that takes a look at that notion. One paper (7-2) shows the results of DeLynn Colvert's analysis in terms of average points pegged, average points in a hand, and average points in the crib. Dealer's average Pegging - 3.5 points Hand - 7.9 points Crib - 4.8 points Total Score - 16.2 Non-Dealer's average Pegging - 2.1 Hand - 8.1 Total Score - 10.2 The second paper (7-8) uses that analysis to come up with the author's 'Cribbage Law of Averages' and the 'Twenty-Six Theory' (I have several other papers on this same subject. Let me know if you would like me to send those to you.) We will play again next Saturday, Dec 29th, at 1 pm at Vashon Eagles. I hope you can join us! Mike
