I would be interested in getting feedback from everyone.
From our Grass Roots Commissioner Ivan Wells Grass Roots Club Administrators, Scott Harker, our Grass Roots Programmer and director of Club 438 (King of Prussia Cribbage Club in Phoenixville, PA) developed a version of online Grass Roots cribbage his club uses regularly (they can't meet in-person). This version forces you to deal the cards, count your hand, move your pegs, maintain your scorecard; and it provides you the opportunity to make every mistake you might make in an in-person game. You can even call for a judge! Or two judges! I started off in the "Absolutely Not" camp, but moved to the "I'm Intrigued" camp after I attended a trial tournament; from there it will be a giant leap to the "I'm Sold" camp. But Hey....Scott's club is playing cards (unofficial play) and mine isn't (unofficial or otherwise), so please read Scott's presentation: Hello ACC Grass Roots Community, For the past few months, my club has been playing online (unofficially), following a process that very closely matches live play. I want to share this with the wider community so other clubs can play cribbage together while staying distant and safe. Below is a link to the Online Tournament Guide. Please suggest any improvements to the process you find so that we can all benefit. http://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Tp9xDqUNfxh_whInx8H_UMkCnjiILn6y?usp=sharing IMPORTANT NOTE: There is nothing "official" or "sanctioned" about this. I have shown this to some members of the ACC GR Committee, but they have a lot of factors to consider regarding sanctioned online play. Please contact me if you are interested in participating in a demonstration tournament. Please contact the Grass Roots Commissioner, Ivan Wells, with feedback or comments regarding the concept of Grass Roots online cribbage. Scott Harker ACC Grass Roots Programmer [email protected] For those interested, there's a NEW 2020 rulebook now available online at: http://www.cribbage.org/NewSite/rules/default.asp You can download it, or save a link to it, for quick reference. In normal years, the Vashon Cribbage Club would be gearing up to start our new Grass Roots year in about three weeks. But given the current COVID situation, I am NOT planning to start the club back up in September. If someone else is willing to run the club, you're more than welcome to do so. Just let me know. Mike (206) 930-1379 [email protected] I am declaring that our club's 2019-2020 cribbage season has now officially come to an end. I don't see how we could safely gather for cribbage and practice good social distancing and proper hygiene during a tournament. And I'm not willing to put any of you at risk! If you still want to pursue additional Grass Roots points this season, you may still attend tournaments in the area....such as over in Kitsap and Pierce Counties. Hopefully we will be able to start again next September. Only time will tell! Stay safe, stay healthy, and THANK YOU for your support this year. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
