WELCOME to our newest member...CHRIS STARR! Today was his first cribbage tournament, and he finished in the middle of the pack, which ain't too shabby. Also, before I run down who won what, I want to say THANKS to STEVE WENNSTROM and the Sportsmen's Club for inviting us down to play in the warmth of a nice fire and fine atmosphere! JIM RANSTROM wasn't too pleased with me this afternoon. He finished the day with 14 game points and a very impressive 126 PLUS Spread Points. I also had 14 game points but only a measley 65 PLUS Spread Points. BUT WAIT! Jim had skunked two opponents and had won a total of six games. I myself got skunked once, but I didn't skunk anyone and won a total of seven games, and that was the tie breaker. So Jim had to settle for SECOND PLACE. (Jim doesn't get mad. He gets even! So next week should be an interesting tournament!) JULIA BICK is still a force to be reconned with. She placed handily in THIRD PLACE and also got Grass Roots Points today. HARLEY MIEDEMA scored a FOUR-OF-A-KIND and cleaned out the $10 pot for the DIRECTOR'S AWARD. He has picked a 5-CARD FLUSH (in either the hand or crib) to be next week's DIRECTOR'S AWARD. ROY BUMGARNER rejoined us today after an extended absence, and he was rewarded by scoring the FIRST 24-HAND, earning him $5 and THE CHICKEN. STEVE WENNSTROM also scored a 24-hand and got his hands on THE CHICKEN and held onto it for the remainder of the day. Nobody could muster up a Raggedy Ann (6-7-8-A-A), so next week's RAGGEDY JULIA starts out with $17 in the pot! As always, THANKS to everyone who helped set up, take down, and provide yummy snacks. Next week we will return to the Vashon Eagles to play. See you then!
