CONGRATULATIONS to Jim Ranstrom for taking 1st place in today's tournament
and CONGRATULATIONS to Steve Wennstrom for coming in 2nd place! Julia Bick had a crib-flush today which earned her $5 and Steve Wennstrom went home with an extra $5 in his pocket for having the last 24-hand of the day! (A couple of players let that prize slip through their hands today!) It was nice to have Weslie Rodgers and Saul Fortunoff join us today so that we had enough players to make it an "official" tournament. And Arlyn Teed is always a joy to play cribbage with! She adds a real touch of grace and style to our group. Don't you agree? If you missed today's fun... JOIN THE FUN next Saturday, January 5th, 1 pm @ Vashon Eagles HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you!! Mike

Mike Greetings and Happy Holidays to all of you! Yesterday we completed our second 'official' Grass Roots tournament! ARLYN TEED ended the day with the winning score card and $28 in her pocket. CONGRATULATIONS Arlyn! In second place was that sweet, quiet, unassuming JULIA BICK. Julia has now taken second place TWO WEEKS IN A ROW! (Keep an eye on her!) CINDY GRENVILLE took first place last week. CONGRATULATIONS to all three of you!! I'm often asked about the advantage (if one exists) to the person who cuts the low card and gets the first crib of the game. Attached are two papers that takes a look at that notion. One paper (7-2) shows the results of DeLynn Colvert's analysis in terms of average points pegged, average points in a hand, and average points in the crib. Dealer's average Pegging - 3.5 points Hand - 7.9 points Crib - 4.8 points Total Score - 16.2 Non-Dealer's average Pegging - 2.1 Hand - 8.1 Total Score - 10.2 The second paper (7-8) uses that analysis to come up with the author's 'Cribbage Law of Averages' and the 'Twenty-Six Theory' (I have several other papers on this same subject. Let me know if you would like me to send those to you.) We will play again next Saturday, Dec 29th, at 1 pm at Vashon Eagles. I hope you can join us! Mike |
