Today we broke a new club attendance record: SIXTEEN (16) players! Our club grew a bit larger today when DANA LAZARE offically became a member! And we enjoyed the company of three off-island visitors: Lori and Dennis Misenar and Elizabeth Streeter. For the record: CINDY GRENVILLE scored a 23-HAND and claimed the DIRECTOR'S AWARD, worth $20. Visitor ELIZABETH STREETER scored the FIRST 24-HAND KURT LYSEN emptied the SKUNK POT out today (Someone will have to remind me who ended up with THE CHICKEN at the end of the day.) And RAY MIELBRECHT held a 6-7-8-A-A, but didn't enter the RAGGEDY JULIA pot, so that pot rolls over to next week. And if you enjoyed playing on those new cribbage boards today, be sure to give STEVE WENNSTROM a pat on the back for taking the kink out of them! REMEMBER: Next Saturday, April 2nd, is our Grass Roots NATIONAL TOURNAMENT. 18-game tournament. Donuts and coffee starting at 8 am. Play begins at 9 am sharp! Our regular weekly Grass Roots tournament will resume on April 9th at 1:00 at the Vashon Eagles.

George Eustice of Vashon Island, Washington learned to play cribbage over 50 years ago, taught by his parents when he was a teenager.
And in all of that time he never once had seen nor held a 29-hand. But George didn't waste any time to take advantage of his newly acquired membership benefits in the Grass Roots Club #339. On the same day that he officially joined the club George had the rare pleasure of holding his first ever 29 hand. It was in his final hand of his ninth game. This was also the first 29-Hand held by a member of Club #339. Mike Sudduth Club #339 Director GEORGE EUSTICE scores a 29-HAND!
Way to go George! For the record: STEVE WENNSTROM emptied out the RAGGEDY JULIA pot today, worth $54, by holding that ever-popular 6-7-8-A-A KIM LAZARE held the FIRST 24-HAND LORI MISENAR, one of our visitors from the Kitsap area, ended the day holding THE CHICKEN DAVE McCOY emptied out the SKUNK POT and nobody held a 23-HAND, so the DIRECTOR'S AWARD will be worth $25 next week! And I forgot to offer a warm WELCOME to our two newest club members, George and Sandy Eustice. I know all of you will do your best to make them feel at home! Today we had the pleasure of playing in a new venue....the Vashon-Maury Senior Center, thanks to George Eustice. Very nice accommodations! Thanks George! And we welcomed back our Colorado Cribbage Buddy JIM ROSEVEARE! For the record: The FIRST 24-HAND was held by ROBIN KING. Robin held onto THE CHICKEN right up to her very last game and her very last hand, when AL DeCARO picked up the final 24-hand of the day. Even though Al never got to count the hand, just holding it was sufficient to take THE CHICKEN away. Nobody held a 6-7-8-A-A so the RAGGEDY JULIA continues to grow. Nobody held a 23-hand, so the DIRECTOR'S AWARD will be worth $15 next week Do YOU know what a 23-hand looks like? And KIM LAZARE went home with the contents of the SKUNK POT! Next Saturday we return to the Vashon Eagles. Today we welcomed another new player, SANDY EUSTICE (last name sound familiar?). Sandy finished the day one place above her husband. As you can see below, both of them won 4 games for 8 game points, but Sandy's spread difference exceeded George's by 38 points! For the record: KURT LYSEN scored the FIRST 24-HAND and was holding THE CHICKEN at the end of the day. RUTH ADAMS cleaned out the SKUNK POT Nobody claimed the RAGGEDY JULIA (6-7-8-A-A) nor the DIRECTOR'S AWARD (23-hand) Next week, March 12th, we will meet at the SENIOR CENTER (on Bank Road across the alley from the new Credit Union) |
